Running Shoe Store - You can visit a specialty store. These stores usually have individuals who can help you with your shoe purchase. If you think they are not nice to you, leave. Try a different store. Getting Ready - Bring your own socks that you wear for running. You may need different size shoes depending on the thickness of your socks.
- Bring your old running shoes or everyday walking shoes. A good sales person should be able to tell you what type of runner you are by looking at your old shoe soles.
- Measure your feet again. Your feet may not be the same size all the time. Make sure your measure width of your feet as well as the length. Do it for both feet.
- Take a short run with pairs of shoes that you like. If it does not feel good, move on to your next pick.
- Be ready to spend about an hour at the store.
- Understand your pronation
- Talked to your sales person about your running need.
- Write down the brand/model/price of shoes that you would like to buy.
- Ask for return policy.
Pick a right pair of shoes - If you are going to run, you need a running shoes. DO NOT by a tennis shoes. Every sport shoes has its own purpose. Running Shoes come in all shapes and technical details that is needed for a runner. Buy a magazine or subscribe - You can buy a reliable running magazin(ex: Runner's World). These magazines frequently run shoe reviews that you can read. What is pronation? - Overpronators : Your feet roll inward, putting extra pressure to your knees and hips to absord shocks. You need stability or Motion-Control Shoes.
- Normal Pronators : Everyone pronates. Pronation helps to absorb shocks. If you have a rigid feet, get cushioned shoes. If you have flexible feet, get motion-control shoes.
- Underpronators : Your feet does not pronate inward and your body absorbs excessive shock. Try a pair of good cushioned shoes with good midsoles.
