In this section of our site, we present you a number of Jechul Wee's pencil drawings. Many of the pencul sketches provide a stepping stone for an idea to become more than its existence when the works become considerations for bigger projects. In fact all the oil paintings by Jechul once were nothing but a sketch to capture some moment. [View Art Gallery] In early years, jechul mastered portraiture by drawing from magazines. He took some breaks from further studying portraiture in late 1990s when he was exclusively drawing bottles, but he is now picking up where he had left off.
No faces are alike, as most experiences in life. That truth promises infinite potential for uniqueness in painting. This is not to diminish the realistic adaptation of another's appearence; the major reason is to let us understand that, even a realistic portrait, cannot exist as the person who stood up for the portrait. The painting becomes an extension of the artist and his forever child of his, despite his intentions.
Let us move back to the original discussion. In this section, you will find some of pencil sketches by Jechul. They are mostly small drawings. As you can imagine, there will be portraits of different people, although they almost always go through a face-lift process where the model is no longer the exact representation. It is much better that way. They are what they are; a simple capturing of life that may have or may have not existed. Regards, SoundKeepers |
